Introduction

 

 

 

Before you start practicing yoga, we suggest you read  the Yoga introduction section which also sheds light on practical considerations for doing Yoga with kids.

In the table below, if you were to click on the name of the pose, you'll be taken to the details page. This page contains instructions on how to do the pose with the photograph. This would be very useful if video streaming is not optimal. More importantly, we hope this will encourage you to do yoga with your cubs!

About the instructor

Michele has been a yoga practitioner since 2001. A flight attendant by profession, she conducts Yoga for kids workshops in USA. Michele has structured a set of routines for practicing yoga for 8-10 minutes a day for kids 4+ years of age.

Pose/Routine Benefits Video

 

Routine 1

(Child, mountain, tree, downward dog, cobra and sun-salutation poses)

You could practice this routine atleast twice

Overall flexibility, balance, calming of mind
Child pose This pose imitates the position of a baby in the mother’s womb. The pose relaxes the mind and relieves any tension in the back.
Mountain pose

This pose gives your child good posture and focuses the mind. Mountain pose is the basic standing posture that teaches how to stand firmly on your two feet.

Tree pose

This pose gently massages a child’s internal organs, muscles and glands. Also relaxes the nervous system and calms the mind. It is great for very active children.

 

Downward dog

This pose strengthens the arms and legs and sends a fresh supply of blood to the head. This pose can also help to correct curvature of the spine.

 

Cobra pose It stretches the spine, strengthens the back and arms, opens the chest and heart.
Sun Salutation
