003 12 and lower Language Story Any To encourage imagination and appreciate different levels of expressive language development Adults please encourage your child to weave a story around things they like - hobbies, friends, toys, pets, family etc. You might like to provide cues to encourage detailing / sequencing. Please type it on MS Word and send it using the submission form. You are free to attach pictures/illustrations as imagined by your cub. Multiple entries are acceptable.
006 4 and above Art Drawing Happy times This encourages self-awareness and consciousness to moods. Requires fine motor and representation skills. Drawing can be made using crayons, pencils, sketch-pens, paints etc. (sketch-pens recommended due to clarity) Please scan them or take a digital photograph and send it using the submission form.
007 4.5 + Language Article (story/essay) School life To encourage attention to thoughts and feelings. Experimentation with words. A lifetime's memory! Many kids started kindergarten as the first level of formal schooling this year. In that sense it was a special year. How was it special? How was the experience now that the school year is ending? What did you like in school and what do you wish is different? How do you feel about going to school? What's the upside? Any downside? ......Parents/caregivers, please assist your child to come up with this sketch. It'll make interesting reading to see perspectives of kids from different geographical locations!
008 7 and above Language Essay Differences make life richer To encourage children to appreciate the positives of different environments, possessions, rituals, thoughts, lifestyles etc. Maybe they would be prompted to take action where feasible to make improvements! If everyone were the same it would spell a catastrophe - imagine all animals eating the same food, we all looking the same etc. While we do wish many times that we had the same things as our friends or did the same as them, maybe differences make our perspectives broader. Parents/Caregivers please encourage kids to appreciate diversity and the reason behind it. You could provide pointers for them to direct their thoughts. (eg. school settings, education system, lifestyle, transportation, food habits etc)
009 3 and above Language/Art Drawing/Article My Birthday To encourage attention to thoughts and feelings. Emphasis on likes and dislikes, creativity, memory and ability to express. Experimentation with words. Drawing can be made using crayons, pencils, sketch-pens, paints etc. (sketch-pens recommended due to clarity) Please scan them or take a digital photograph and send it using the submission form. Language submissions on MS word document. You are free to attach photographs as well.
010 5 and above Language Article Holidays To encourage attention to thoughts and feelings. Emphasis on likes and dislikes, creativity, memory and ability to express. Experimentation with words. Do you look forward to holidays? What plans do you have/did you make for your vacations? What's the best thing about vacations for you?
