What is the Alphabet series?

This is a series of 31 worksheets that have been specifically developed to reinforce knowledge of:

  • Uppercase and Lowercase letters

  • Letter sounds

All worksheets follow a similar format. As weeks go by, the child will be able to predict what is required to be done in the worksheets. This builds confidence. He/she will also start focusing on different attributes of the letters in print like similarities, slant, size, shape, direction etc.

The first 3 weeks of the month focus on learning new letters. The fourth week reviews all letters that have been covered that month.

You can opt for these at two levels (assuming a 4 week month.)

 How does it work

The Study@Home packet will arrive by the 5th of each month. It shall contain worksheets on the  alphabets being covered for that month.

Keeping aside 10-20mins for each worksheet is all that it takes to go through the program. You’ll need a pencil, eraser, color pencils and rough paper handy while doing the program. Color pencils are suggested in preference to markers/crayons as using color pencils is not only a fun way to prepare tiny hands for future writing skills, it also makes it easy for children to edit their work.

For children who're beginning learners it is suggested that you do some fun alphabet learning activities regularly to precede the worksheets. The worksheets assume basic familiarity of the letters and work towards reinforcing it.

  1. For whom is this program a good choice?

    • 3-4year olds. It is for children  who are at different stages of learning letter recognition, uppercase and lowercase letters and letter sounds. They are still to gain mastery of these concepts.

  2. What is the Adult’s level of involvement?

  • This program depends significantly on your involvement.
  • You need to sit with the child and help him/her do the worksheet. Doing fun activities that reinforce the letters of the week on days prior to doing the worksheets, makes learning more productive.  
  • Making alphabets in a sand-tray, using shaving cream to write, using a white-board in place and set to write are some fun ways which you could try out for forming letters.

A weekly sample plan of activities is suggested below. Doing this for a week for the letters in focus shall show surprising results! Once you sign-up for the program, additional learning resources shall be suggested to ensure the child's interest levels are high all through when its "Alphabet" time!

  1. I'm not sure if my child will be able to cope with the fast-tack program. What should I do?

You can start with the regular program. If you feel your child is able to finish the worksheets fast and would be happy to do more, write to us by the 15th of the month. You'll be put onto the fast-track program from the next month. This change can easily be effected.
